Motorcycle Oil Change Guide

How to Change Your Motorcycle Oil – Step-by-Step

Regular oil changes protect your engine and extend the life of your bike. Here's how:

Tools & Materials:

  • Motor oil (correct specification)
  • New oil filter (and seal ring if needed)
  • Drain pan for used oil
  • Funnel & oil filter wrench
  • Optional: Torque wrench
  • Gloves & cleaning cloth

Step-by-Step:

  1. Warm up the engine for about 5 minutes so the oil flows easier.
  2. Stabilize the bike using a center stand or paddock stand.
  3. Remove the drain plug and let old oil drain completely.
  4. Use a wrench to remove the old oil filter. Clean the mounting area.
  5. Lightly oil the new filter’s seal and install it as per manual.
  6. Insert the drain plug with a new gasket and tighten properly.
  7. Refill with fresh oil (check your manual for the right amount).
  8. Start the engine for 1–2 minutes, check for leaks.
  9. Let the engine sit, then check and top off the oil level.
  10. Dispose of the old oil at a proper recycling center.

✅ Tip: Always change the filter with the oil for best protection!
