Safety Vest for Motorcyclists – Mandatory or Not?
Germany: Not mandatory – but strongly recommended
In Germany, motorcyclists are not legally required to carry or wear a safety vest. Unlike drivers of cars, trucks or buses, there is no obligation to carry one.
Our recommendation:
➡️ Always carry a safety vest – for your own protection!
In case of breakdown or accident, a high-visibility vest greatly improves your visibility – especially in poor weather or low light.
EU Countries: Mandatory in many cases
If you’re planning to travel abroad by motorcycle, many EU countries require a safety vest – both to carry it and to wear it in case of a breakdown or accident.
